Course Description:

 

This course encompasses the foundations of chemistry and physics as they relate to the earth and space sciences.  Special emphasis is placed on the objectives established by the New Jersey Core Curriculum Contents Standards for Science that is assessed on the HSPA.  The prerequisite for this course is Biology. 

 

Expectations:

 

  1. Be seated with all appropriate materials and supplies at your desk when the bell rings.
  2. Respect the people, equipment and furnishings of room A-4.
  3. No cell phones
  4. Follow directions the first time they are given.
  5. No food or drink in the classroom.

 

Grading:

Tests: 30%
Quizzes: 20%

Labs: 15%

Classwork: 15%

Homework: 20%

 

Late work/Absences:

 

Students are expected to come to class prepared with all work completed.  Half credit will be granted for homework assignments handed in one day late.  

 

If a student is absent, it is his or her responsibility to make arrangements to complete any missed assignments.  Homework assignments will be posted on the board each day as well as on the website.  Make up work is to be handed in the following day.   If a student misses a lab, he or she has five days to make up the material.  If a student misses a test, it must be made up within 5 days of the test. Arrangements will be made for any extended absences.
